Dragon's Keep

The Story
In the year 1988, together with a friend of mine, I was working on a Roleplaying Game in the vein of Ultima IV. Back then we were only 13 and 12 years old and wrote the whole program on an Atari 520 ST computer, equipped with 2,5 MBytes RAM and a 16 colours display. The source code itself was in GFA-Basic 3.x, back then one of the best programming languages for the Atari.

It was in August 2001, that I accidently discovered an old floppy disk of mine, while cleaning up my room: covered in a lot of dust, I have found our old program code. The wonderful Atari ST emulator STonX then helped me to reanimate its content and I managed to start our game, Dragon's Keep, for the first time in more than 13 years! (Update: This year marks the 20th birthday of Dragon's Keep.)

I was so surprised and happy about my discovery that I decided to create a small web shrine for Dragon's Keep. Feel free to look around or download the source code yourself, but please keep in mind that neither the program, nor the according sources and graphics are free or even GPLed. Hascs Inspiration
We got inspired to start Dragon's Keep, because back then we were heavily addicted to Ultima IV. But there were also a bunch of other games quite similar to Ultima, which inspired us to work on Dragon's Keep. One of them is HASCS, a Shareware adventure game for the Atari ST. You can download HASCS from this page.
